Hi! I'm a Quilter!

Welcome to 2022

Published over 2 years ago • 1 min read

Hey Reader I hope 2022 is off to a good start for you! I wanted to get you caught up on what is going on here in The Quilting Room. Just a reminder I don't send emails out unless I have something to new to say. A lot of what has been going on with the blog has been updating old posts to make them better for everyone. I just finished taking a class on how to make Google happy with my posts so they will show them to new people when they search for something I write about.

There is a lot going on right now with The Quilting Room. This quarter, January - March, the blog is hosting a fabric scrap busting blog hop. Each Monday we will have a featured set of designers sharing a project to bust the fabric scraps. This is great if you have vowed to do a no-spend January. If you want to join us you just need to click here. You'll be added to the email list for it.

New Social Media News

I have made the dive into the world of TikTok. I've only posted one video and just kind of feeling things out. You are welcome to join me over there. If TikTok isn't your thing don't worry all of the videos that are going on that platform are also going onto my Facebook page as Reels.

New Quilting Posts

Just before Christmas I was featured on Redfin's blog about decorating your home with quilts. I guess all that tweeting about HGTV finally paid off. lol You can find a link to the Redfin's post and some more ideas about decorating your home here.

New Vintage Sewing Machine Posts

I recently wrote a post about the best sewing machine oil on the market. Spoiler alert I didn't name a brand but the features you should be looking for depending on what function you need the oil to do. We use a different oil for cleaning rust and oil shellac off the inside of machines than we use for daily use. I also included a really interesting link about the various oil viscosities and such. The one thing I didn't include that I found really interesting is bourbon has a very similar viscosity as Lily White Sewing Machine Oil.

I'll talk to you soon!

Hey Reader! How's your summer going? I hope you are getting to enjoy some sunshine. The blog is coming along, I thought it was going to be more like an episode of Trading Spaces but it has turned into a full blown reno. It had good bones at least. lol On The Blog The homepage is 90% good to go, I don't have the guides made yet. If there's a pretty picture that blog post is good too go! I've even added some videos to some of them, like the Singer Merritt 2404. I wrote a mini-bio of myself so...

Hey Reader! I am shaking my head at the undertaking I've jumped into with this move for the website. It's been a lot!! I've had to learn a whole new platform but the good news is it is forcing me to fix up and expand guides written years ago. So there may be a few hiccups but if you bear with us while we renovate it will be worth it for all of us! On The Blog A pop-up on each page lets you know we are under renovation. The homepage is setup, minus some pictures. It should give you a quicker...

Hey Reader I realize it's been a month or two since I've popped into your inbox for some of you. I hadn't realized how long it had been until I got a sweet email asking if I was OK since I hadn't sent an email or posted anything on social media. I've had my nose to the grindstone these last few months so anything that wasn't pre-scheduled didn't get created. What have I been up to you ask? I'm getting ready to move my entire website to a new host. My original plan was to keep going as usual...
