April Showers of Sewing News: Buttercup Edition ☀️

What’s up buttercup?

I’m enjoying the sunshine being around longer! The other day a friend shared a photo of a quilt that they had purchased the pattern of based on the photo. When my friend started looking at the photo it was easy to see it was an AI photo and not the actual quilt. While I use software when I’m designing patterns and may even use digital illustrations when teaching a method or a block rest assured if you see something of mine, it was sewn by either myself or by Paul.

On The Blog

I've been working on guides for sewing machines. I mean you can't quilt without one, at least not easily my grandma did it all by hand. I really want to be your one-stop shop for all things quilting and sewing. So I've put together a guide about the different types of machines on the market, my recommendations for sewing machines for quilting based on your budget, a comparison between Singer and Brother since everyone knows those brands, a guide to help you find the perfect machine based on what type of sewing you want to do, and a guide on machines to do the quilting on including domestic sewing machine options, mid-arm, long-arm, sit down, and stand up machines.

If your machine is breaking thread and making you want to pull your hair out be sure to check out the reasons thread breaks.

New Tools I’m Loving

This might be my favorite new section of the newsletter. This isn't exactly new but I don't think I've ever shared my love of Baste-It glue with you. It's great for those of us who don't want to pin because we don't sew slowly but still want to line things up.
